Artist Aviva Reed will facilitate an afternoon to unleash your creative play exploring a variety of mediums including watercolour, collage, pastel, ink and pencil.
We will create portraits of our local ecosystems as a way to learn about our local ecology and experiment with art materials. Includes tea, coffee & nibbles.

A morning making watercolour artworks inspired by a story about the symbiotic relationship between the Hawaiian bobtail squid and the bioluminescent bacteria that help it glow in the moonlight. Using Small Friends Books as a learning resource, we will explore the micro and macro creatures of the ocean.

She is author/ illustrator of five books on microbial communities and evolution.

Creative writing & art therapy
This workshop is an invitation for you to create through words and art.
The session will be facilitated by art therapist, Shelley Murphy and will start with a meditation to bring you into the space and set you up for the creative process. You will then be invited to create a piece of writing which will then lead to an expressive art work related to your story.
$50 including all materials and tea.

About the facilitator: Hi, my name is Shelley and I am from Newtown, Sydney now relocated to the scenic Clarence Valley. I am a qualified art therapist and have experience faciliting group sessions for childen as well as 1:1 sessions with adults. I am now the founder and owner of 'Art of symetri, the art of you'. I believe that art has a deep theraputetic value which helps us communicate and understand ourselves in a physical sense, it can be an act of self discovery and that there is always room for it.
