Esk studio ethos.

Esk studio is a multi disciplined artist run initiative with a focus on environmental conservation, education and community building . It seeks to create an inclusive community gathering space that revolves around the elevation of ecological awareness and its relation to social well being. It is through an art lens that Esk studio seeks to create a culture of beauty, inquiry, play and awareness whilst enabling a duty of care to the natural eco-systems that sustain our lives.

In considering these objectives the studio seeks to re-examine how an arts space and micro industry can function within an ethical context whilst sustaining the financial requirements for its ongoing administration contributing artists and educators. In adopting an agile and multifaceted approach studio possibiltles and practice, Esk studio aims to form a model that is adaptable and resilient to ongoing uncertainties and the increasing pressures of rapid change.

Currently located on Yaegl country Iluka N.S.W, Esk Studio occupies an old fibro house situated on the main street of Iluka and has been re-purposed into a gallery, studios and residency. Although the space has a great energy in itself, it is in its proximity to the Iluka world heritage rainforest and the coastline of Bundjalung national park that truely makes it unique, a place where you can smell the rainforest and hear the sea.
