Art residency
Esk Studio is an art studio based on ecological ideas, so please tell us little of your practice. Just send through your preferred dates and we’ll be in touch.
Esk Studio is $60 per night
Minimum 2 nights/ Maximum 1 month
Short term art retreats at Esk include:
a earthy green bedroom to hide away and dream
a separate studio room with glorious light and a desk to paint, make, create or write in
an extensive library of ecological literature
shared kitchen and bathroom with quiet gallery which is only open once a week, on a Saturday and for occasional intimate events
shared gardens and the possibility to use a large shed depending on your work, have a chat!
a retro beach house with ‘character’
rivers, oceans and rainforest in short distances from studio in all directions
dolphins on most days
fast wifi
possible opportunities to do workshops, presentations, have a chat!

Please note: Iluka is regional. It is tricky to get to with public transport. Flights into Ballina and buses from there are your only option. At the studio, all services are walking distance but the beach is a 3km walk through rainforest. With a car, a number of other beaches are also easily accessible. You have access to a bike at the studio.
TERMS + CONDITIONS
There is 3 night minimum charge on the property and a maximum 1 month
Much time and care has gone into creating these spaces for you to enjoy, please be respectful.
By booking your stay with us you accept the following Terms + Conditions:
PAYMENT TERMS (Payments via Bank Transfer)
30% Deposit of total cost is charged at booking and full payment due 7 days before arrival.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Full refund for cancellations made prior to 14 days before check-in. 7-14 day’s notice given – 30% of the total booking value will be charged – Less than 7 days notice – you will be charged 100% of the total booking value.
COVID CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of any government lockdowns, travel restrictions, mandated self-isolating or quarantining, we will refund in full.
NOISE
Please be respectful of our neighbours at all times and keep noise to a minimum. If complaints are received and you are found not to have been respectful of neighbours you will be required to vacate the premises with no further notice or refund.
CLEANING
Accommodation is accepted on the basis that all occupants treat the property with the same respect as their own home in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Please leave the property in a neat and tidy state. If a property is found to be left in an unreasonable state at check out, there will be an extra cleaning charge. This will be determined on a case to case basis.
DAMAGE
Whilst you are in occupation, you are fully responsible for all breakages and damage caused to the property, its furniture fittings, or any consequent loss suffered by the Property Owner/Agent. Any such breakages, damage or loss must be reported immediately and paid for prior to departure.
SMOKING
No smoking inside the Property. Please ensure all cigarette waste is disposed of.
KEY & CLEANING DEPOSIT
$50 deposit will be returned in full if premises left as found with key
RIGHT TO REFUSE OR REVOKE BOOKINGS
Esk Studio may reserve the right to revoke or refuse to honour any accommodation booking which may in the opinion of either party (and at their sole discretion) be unsuitable for the Property concerned.
BOOKING CONFIRMATION
Once an artist booking has been confirmed, we will take a 30% deposit and then the artist shall be responsible for payment of the total price for the art retreat by the beginning of retreat
DISCLAIMER
I/We hereby acknowledge and agree that the Property Owner and Agent will not be held responsible nor liable for:
Any injury or loss suffered by the occupants, their invitees or guests whatsoever or howsoever caused whilst I/we are in occupancy of the accommodation due to my/our failure to comply with the Term and Conditions or House Rules;
Any injury or loss suffered by the occupants, their invitees or guests whatsoever or howsoever caused due to negligence on my/our /their part.
Any injury or loss suffered by the occupants, their invitees or guests whatsoever or howsoever caused as a result of insects or wildlife in or around the accommodation site. All occupants are to take specific care at all time and requested not to approach any wildlife under any circumstances.
INDEMNITY
You, the guest, indemnify the agency against any liability which may attach to the agency as a result of damage, injury or loss being personal or proprietary suffered by any person where damage, injury or loss has been contributed to or caused by any act or occasion of the tenant or his/her visitor.
Management reserves the right to update these Terms + Conditions when required at their discretion.
